Why Should I Become a Member?
Our mission is to be an asset to you as a literacy provider or as an individual concerned with adult literacy issues in order for you to better serve those in need in your community. While every provider will have a unique set of needs, which we will strive to fulfill, we have a core set of services available along with several in development:
Current Programs:
- Presenting an Award for Excellence in Literacy Service
- Hosting an Annual Statewide Adult Literacy Conference
- Maintaining an Information Clearinghouse of Literacy Providers
- Offering an Advocacy Training
- Placing and managing AmeriCorps*VISTAs
- Online Tutor Training
Programs in Development:
- Statewide Resource Mapping
- Literacy Awareness Initiative
- The Tennessee Literacy Volunteer Initiative
In addition to these services, you will have the opportunity to receive bi-monthly newsletters regarding recent literacy accomplishments, and have access to documents that will quickly become a comprehensive resource for you. You will also have the opportunity to report major accomplishments of your organization to be included in these newsletters and seen by all of our subscribers!
